If your work permit application has been approved, you will receive a Port of Entry (POE) Letter of Introduction in your account. However, this letter does not guarantee entry into Canada or guarantee the issuance of a work permit.
For Applicants Already in Canada
If you are in Canada when you receive your POE letter, you must leave the country to activate your work permit. Be aware that re-entering from the U.S. or Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon may not allow you to activate your permit.
Extending or Changing Your Work Permit
- Work permit extensions are only possible under limited circumstances.
- You cannot extend your work permit beyond the maximum duration allowed under your program.
- If your work permit has expired, you may apply to restore your status, but you must meet the eligibility criteria for an extension.
